Ultimate Spider-Man Annual #3
Issues: Ultimate Spider-Man Annual #3 (October 2008)
Writer: Brian Michael Bendis

Peter and MJ are laying around when MJ brings up all they've been through together. She then asks Peter if they should take their relationship to the next level. The next day, MJ sees Peter at school and runs away. Kitty and Kong see this and ask whether Peter
and MJ have broken up.
Later, Peter is swinging around as Spider-Man when he comes across a car chase. Spider-Man lands on the car, but is confused to find that there is money in the car, but no one is driving. He attempts to stop the car by taking control of it, but it won't turn or
brake. Spider-Man notices a device attached to the wheel and tears it off, which unfortunately causes the car to speed up to 100mph. He then attempts to stop the car with a huge web, but the car tears right through it. Finally, a giant web speedbump does the
trick, which causes the car to flip. Spider-Man webs the car up in mid-air, but the car explodes.
The next day Jessica Jones tells the Midtown High newscast club, which MJ is a part of, about the situation with the car and Spider-Man. She says she wants to report on every Spider-Man story and she wants the newscasters to find out who Spider-Man is, because
everyone knows Spider-Man is a student at Midtown High. At lunch, MJ finally sits down with Peter to warn him that Jessica is on to him being Spider-Man.
Peter tells her about how Captain Frank Quaid and the cops thanked Spider-Man for helping stop the car. Quaid and Spider-Man went back down to the police station, where Quaid and an employee named Maggie showed Spider-Man footage of the bank that was robbed. The
footage showed that the getaway car took off before the bank was even robbed by a mysterious blue flame-headed man the police were calling "Mysterio". Mysterio had already hit three other banks before the last one. Capt. Quaid askes Spider-Man for help catching
Mysterio, as Spider-Man has experience with costumed criminals. After hearing Peter's story, MJ resolves to solve the crime herself.
That night in Greenwich Village, the girl from the station, Maggie, meets up with Mysterio. She reveals herself to be a mole in the police department and has given Mysterio audio and video surveillance in the station. Maggie tells Mysterio she wants her cut and
then she wants out. Moments later, Spider-Man drops in through a window in the ceiling. He attempts to punch Mysterio, but Mysterio's head is only a whiff of smoke and light. Captain Quaid arrives with the police, but Mysterio sets off explosives around the
building. He grabs Spider-Man and tells him that they will "do this thing" when Mysterio is ready and then disappears. Everyone escapes and Maggie is arrested.
Peter then visits MJ and tells her that she was right - Mysterio's bank robberies where an inside job. Maggie had been setting up the surveillance equipment at the station and hacking programs for Mysterio. Peter and MJ finally talk about sex - MJ feels bad for
suggesting it and then reneging on the idea. Peter says that he would never push her into something she didn't want to do and even says that he wants to marry her. They kiss, signifying that they will remain together.
Back at Mysterio's warehouse, he reveals that he never left and seems to vow revenge on Spider-Man.
